If you've heard the word "chakra" but aren't quite sure what to do with it, you're not alone. This section is for you.
The Basics
The word "chakra" comes from Sanskrit and means "wheel" or "disk." In ancient Indian healing traditions — and in many modern energy healing practices — chakras refer to the seven main energy centers of the human body. Think of them like power stations along your spine, each one governing specific physical, emotional, and spiritual functions.
When your chakras are balanced and flowing freely, you feel it: clarity, vitality, emotional stability, connection. When they're blocked or out of balance, you feel that too — sometimes as physical symptoms, sometimes as emotional heaviness, sometimes as a vague sense that something is just off.
The Seven Chakras
🔴 Root Chakra (Muladhara) — Base of the spine. Governs safety, stability, grounding, survival instinct. When blocked: anxiety, financial stress, feeling unmoored. Crystals: black tourmaline, red jasper, smoky quartz.
🟠Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) — Below the navel. Governs creativity, pleasure, sexuality, emotional flow. When blocked: creative blocks, emotional numbness, guilt. Crystals: carnelian, orange calcite, sunstone.
🟡 Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) — Upper abdomen. Governs personal power, confidence, will. When blocked: low self-esteem, control issues, digestive problems. Crystals: citrine, tiger's eye, yellow jasper.
💚 Heart Chakra (Anahata) — Center of the chest. Governs love, compassion, connection, forgiveness. When blocked: grief, loneliness, resentment. Crystals: rose quartz, green aventurine, malachite.
💙 Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) — Throat. Governs communication, truth, self-expression. When blocked: difficulty speaking up, fear of judgment, sore throats. Crystals: blue lace agate, sodalite, aquamarine.
🔵 Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) — Between the eyebrows. Governs intuition, perception, inner wisdom. When blocked: confusion, overthinking, disconnection from intuition. Crystals: amethyst, lapis lazuli, labradorite.
🟣 Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) — Top of the head. Governs spiritual connection, higher consciousness, divine guidance. When blocked: feeling spiritually disconnected, lack of purpose. Crystals: clear quartz, selenite, amethyst.
