Moldavite is a green translucent gemstone that comes from a single meteorite which fell to earth nearly 15 million years ago and landed in the Czech Republic. Classified as a tektite, a kind of natural forming glass made from meteorites subjected to high pressure and temperatures as they impact the planet, it is considered the only gemstone of extra-terrestrial origin.
